KUCHING (Aug 7): The YB Dato Lo Education Fair 2024 will offer school leavers a platform to explore and apply for tertiary education opportunities.
To be held at Boulevard Shopping Mall on Saturday from 10am to 6pm, the fair promises a comprehensive selection of academic and vocational paths.
“Our goal is to provide a comprehensive platform for students and parents to explore diverse higher education opportunities,” Batu Kitang assemblyman Datuk Lo Khere Chiang told a press conference.
He said the fair aims to connect students and parents with esteemed local and international universities and colleges.
To ensure widespread participation, invitation letters have been sent to most secondary schools in Kuching to encourage them to inform their students about the fair, he said.
“As there is a unique challenge faced by some students, special support will be extended to Form 5 and Form 6 students from The Salvation Army and The Salvation Army Boy’s Home,” said Lo.
He said to inspire academic excellence, small tokens of appreciation will be awarded to high-achieving Form 5 and 6 students selected randomly from participating secondary schools.
Besides school students, he said the education fair will also cater to working adults by featuring institutions that offer part-time courses, allowing individuals to balance work and education effectively.
“This initiative aims to unlock new career horizons and support lifelong learning as we firmly believe that this education fair will serve as a catalyst for countless success stories.
“Let us come together to invest in the future of our young people and empower lifelong learning for all,” he added.
The educational institutions participating in the fair are HELP University; UCSI University; University of Technology Sarawak (UTS); Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak; FAME International College; Curtin University Malaysia; Open University Malaysia (OUM); MSU College Sarawak; Universiti Technology Mara (UiTM); Inti International University; St Joseph’s Private Secondary School Kuching; Cyberjaya College Kuching; Kolej Laila Taib; Sarawak Skills; i-CATS University College; Kuching Skills College; Automotive and Welding Institute of Sarawak (AWISAR); GES Global Educational Services Sdn Bhd; MMS Educations Specialist; EduQuest Education Services Kuching; Wawasan Open University; and SPACE UTM.
