LAWAS, Sept. 12: A total of 19 witnesses have been summoned to assist in the investigation into the crash of an Air Doctor Service helicopter that killed a pilot and four health ministry employees at Long Lellang on Tuesday.

Sarawak Police Commissioner, Datuk Mohamad Zainal Abdullah said the initial report on the incident is expected to be released within 30 days of the incident.

"We've taken testimony from 19 witnesses who can help our investigation. At the same time, the Bureau of Air Accident Investigation has also conducted or initiated an investigation", he said.

He said this during a media briefing after the Town Hall Discussion Programme SIRI2/2026 of the Royal Malaysian Police Constabulary in Sarawak's Old District here today.

Mohamad said the results of deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) testing for five victims have been obtained from the Department of Chemistry today.

He said the bodies of five victims will be handed over to their heirs today, including a documentation process.

The victims were the pilot, Captain Zainol Afiq Bee Sham; medical officer, Dr Ainul Baraah Kamaruddin; medical assistant, Alexson Adit Henry; nurse, Debra Moset; and nurse, Jessie Paya Jok.
