KOTA KINABALU (March 11): A total of 270 people from 82 families were evacuated to four temporary flood relief centres (PPS) in Paitan.
The Sabah State Disaster Management Committee in a statement said the flood victims were from 26 villages in Paitan.
“The PPS at Dewan SK Lubang Buaya has the most flood victims taking refuge, with 134 people from 41 families, followed by the PPS at Pusat Komuniti Batagon Darat with 66 people from 17 families.
“The PPS at Gereja PCS Purubatu is sheltering 61 people from 20 families, while nine people from four families are taking refuge at Surau Nr Hikmah Kampung Kaindangan,” the committee said.
It added the evacuees comprised 85 men, 91 women, 49 boys and 45 girls.
“The Civil Defence and Fire and Rescue Department will continue to monitor the flood situation in Paitan,” it said.
