KUCHING, 13 Sept: A total of 346 participants from Batu Kawa State Legislative Assembly (DUN) area received benefits through the Class B2 Driving Licence Assistance Program of 2026, as an effort to help communities get a driver's license legally in addition to raising awareness about road safety.

Deputy Prime Minister of Sarawak, Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian said that owning a B2 license is not only a legal requirement but also a responsibility involving the safety of themselves and other road users.

"Holding this license not only guarantees your own safety, but protects every life that shares the highway. This effort is not just for personal protection, but a shared commitment to the well-being of all of us on the road.

"This license is not just a piece of document, but a meaningful bet that shines a light on your future and survival", he said while addressing the 2026 B2 Class Driving License Assistance Program Delivery Meeting organized by Batu Kawa State Legislative Assembly here, on Sunday.

In addition, the implementation of the assistance programme also demonstrates the government's commitment to ensuring that the public, especially those in need, have access to the opportunity to obtain a driver's license legally.

He said that such initiatives not only directly benefit the recipients, but also have the potential to strengthen a culture of law enforcement and road safety in the society.

The programme thus shows that the aid for driving licences is not only a matter of mobility, but also an investment in safety, employment opportunities and welfare of society.
