KUCHING, Jan 11: A total of 35 Chinese Imams from 14 provinces of China visit Malaysia in a seven-day ‘Imam Familiarisation Trip: Explore Muslim-Friendly Malaysia’ program.

Tourism, Arts and Culture (Motac) Minister Dato Seri Tiong King Sing said China has consistently been a crucial tourism market for Malaysia, and the Ministry is actively working to expand opportunities for the tourism industry.

“As a leading Muslim-friendly destination, we also recognised the untapped potential of Muslims market in China,” he said in a statement today.

Tiong reiterated that Motac is also committed to establish regional ‘Umrah Hub’ to strengthen Malaysia’s Muslim-friendly ecosystem.

Soon, he said, Muslim travelers from China, Southeast Asia, and other regions will have the chance to explore Malaysia’s nature, traditional and modern attractions before or after their Umrah.

He said this aligns with the carefully curated seven-day ‘Imam Familiarisation Trip: Explore Muslim-Friendly Malaysia’ program by Islamic Tourism Centre (ITC) and Malaysian Inbound Chinese Association (MICA) which provides an opportunity for the 35 Chinese Imams to take a sneak peek into these features during their stay in Malaysia.

“I also hope our esteemed guests from China will have a meaningful journey through Putrajaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malacca, Seremban, Port Dickson, Shah Alam, Gombak, and Bentong.

“Upon your return, we hope you’ll share your experiences in Muslim-friendly Malaysia with your home communities, becoming great ambassadors for us,” he added. – DayakDaily
