KUCHING (March 11): Forty children from Rumah Kebajikan Laila Taib (Peryatim) Kuching and Rumah Kanak-Kanak Toh Puan Hajah Norkiah were recently feted at a special breaking-of-fast event with Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
The event, held at a hotel here on Tuesday, was organised by Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation Berhad (SDEC), the Centre for Technology Excellence Sarawak (Centexs) and the Development Bank of Sarawak (DBOS).
The children — 20 each from Rumah Kebajikan Laila Taib (Peryatim) Kuching and Rumah Kanak-Kanak Toh Puan Hajah Norkiah — also received ‘duit raya’ from Abang Johari during the event.
As part of their corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives, SDEC, Centexs and DBOS also presented RM10,000 each to the two homes to support their welfare and operational needs.
The event was attended by more than 400 guests, comprising government leaders, board members, corporate stakeholders, strategic partners and staff from the three organisations.
Also present were SDEC chairman Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Morshidi Abdul Ghani, SDEC chief executive officer Dato Ir Ts Sudarnoto Osman, Centexs chief executive officer Dato Syeed Mohd Hussien Wan Abd Rahman, and DBOS chief executive officer Datu Laura Lee Ngien Hion.
The evening concluded with congregational prayers including Maghrib, Isyak and Tarawih.
