KUCHING, 13 Sept: The 45th Anniversary celebration of the Sarawak Land Development Board (LCDA) was celebrated with a different approach as pickleball sports became a platform to strengthen ties with government agencies, strategic partners and stakeholders.
Sarawak Government Secretary, Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki officiated the pickelball match on the occasion of the 45th Anniversary of LCDA. TVS photosLCDA General Manager, Dato Sri Zaidi Mahdi said the encouraging reception to the inaugural pickleball tournament was a testament to the willingness of strategic partners and stakeholders to spend time together in a more relaxed atmosphere.
He said the event not only gave participants an opportunity to compete in a healthy way, but it was also a space for strengthening the relationship that LCDA has built over its 45 years of establishment.
"Not only does it reflect the growing popularity of pickleball, but more importantly, it reflects the willingness of our friends and stakeholders to spend time together, interact in a more relaxed atmosphere and strengthen the relationships we have built over the years", he said.
He said this during the opening of a pickleball sporting event to mark the LCDA's 45th Anniversary today.
He said that throughout the LCDA's journey, various collaborations have been implemented with government agencies, strategic partners and stakeholders in addressing challenges as well as achieving various initiatives.
Meanwhile, Zaidi said the high number of participants was very encouraging, especially for the first edition of the tournament.
He hoped that the celebration would be the start of more sporting events and joint activities which could bring together LCDA, government agencies, organizations as well as strategic partners in the future.
"I think this is a very encouraging amount of participation, especially for our first pickleball tournament.
"It clearly reflects the enthusiasm and support provided by our friends, and I hope this will be the start of more sporting events as well as opportunities for us to come together and strengthen relationships in the future", he said.
He hoped that the promotion of such programmes would open up more opportunities for LCDA and its strategic partners to come together, whether through sporting activities, discussion or cooperation in the future.
A total of 324 players from 28 teams and 17 VIP couples participated in the tournament, offering cash prizes exceeding RM20,000, plus trophies and winners' medals. - TVS
