4WD engulfed in flames after crashing into tree in Sibu

SIBU (May 27): A four-wheel-drive vehicle caught fire after it crashed into a tree on Jalan Kong Yit Khim here on Thursday night.

Sibu Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Zone 4 chief Andy Alie said a distress call on the incident was received at 9.59pm.

A team of firefighters from Sibu Jaya was deployed to the location some 8km away.

“Upon arrival at the scene, firefighters found the vehicle engulfed in flames and estimated it was 100 per cent razed, following the single-vehicle accident,” he said in a statement, adding no one was injured in the incident.

Firefighters deployed one hose line to extinguish the blaze.

The fire was brought under control at 10.45pm and the operation ended a minute later.
