SARIKEI, Sept 14: At least five houses were damaged after strong winds and heavy rain hit several areas in the district yesterday afternoon (Sept 13).
In a TVS news report, most of the damage involved the roofs of the houses, with Kampung Jalan Drahman Keria and Kampung Dibah among the affected areas.
Deputy Minister for Urban Planning, Land Administration, and Environment Datuk Len Talif Salleh said he had received reports of the incident and that officials were assessing the extent of the damage.
“We are working to find immediate solutions to assist the victims, including considering the use of funds allocated for housing assistance for the poor to repair the affected homes.
“The priority now is to ensure assistance reaches those in need as soon as possible,” he said.
Len Talif, who is also Kuala Rajang State assemblyman, said assistance would be determined based on the extent of damage to each house.
He expressed relief that no lives were lost and urged the affected residents to remain patient and resilient while dealing with the incident. — DayakDaily
