A five-year-old girl has proven that luck does not discriminate when she won the grand prize in a lucky draw at the opening ceremony of the 21st Malaysia Games (SUKMA) 2024
According to the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (UKAS), Ainul Mardhiah Hirizuan won a brand new Perodua Aruz, which has a starting price of RM75,200, at the Sarawak Stadium last Saturday, 17 August.
The toddler's name was displayed on the stadium's screen in front of about 40,000 attendees.
Besides Ainul, 11 other winners took home prizes such as a MacBook Pro, electronic bike, iPad Pro, iPhone 15 Pro, Samsung Galaxy S24, and more.
Sarawak's Youth, Sports, and Entrepreneur Development Minister Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah presented the grand prize to the girl during the prize-giving ceremony held at the main media centre.
Ainul's family would have missed the grand prize announcement if they had not decided to stay for Datuk Awie's performance
Speaking to Suara Sarawak, Ainul's mother, Pisza Kawi, 33, could not believe it when her daughter's name was displayed on the screen.
"I checked many times to confirm if the name displayed was my daughter's name.
"It was indeed Ainul's name. Alhamdulillah for my daughter's
rezeki
.
"Lining up and walking a long distance for SUKMA's opening ceremony last night was not in vain after all," she said.
Pisza said she is grateful for the Perodua Aruz as her family only has a Perodua Myvi now.
"With this Perodua Aruz, it will make daily tasks, such as picking up the children from school, easier," she added.
SUKMA kicked off with a spectacular start at its opening ceremony last Saturday:
