KUCHING (April 1): A total of 96 personnel from the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) received the Excellent Service Award (APC) 2025 in recognition of their outstanding performance and dedication.
The awards were presented by Bomba deputy director-general (operations) Dato Ir Ts Ahmad Izram Osman, who represented director-general Datuk Seri Nor Hisham Mohammad at the ceremony held at Dewan Majma Tuanku Abdul Halim Muadzam Shah here.
Ahmad Izram said the award recognises officers and personnel who have demonstrated strong commitment, integrity and exemplary work performance throughout the year.
“A total of 96 personnel from the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department were selected for the 2025 Excellent Service Award.
“Of these, six are from the management and professional group, while 90 are from the implementation group,” he told a press conference after the ceremony.
He added that recipients will also receive a RM1,000 financial incentive, which will be credited directly via electronic fund transfer (EFT).
Ahmad Izram said the APC is one of the department’s highest forms of recognition and involves a stringent selection process.
Among the criteria are a minimum MyPerformance score of 90 per cent, a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 28 and below, passing the Individual Physical Proficiency Test (IPPT) and Physical Fitness Test (UKJ), no disciplinary record, confirmed service status and at least three years of service with Bomba Sarawak.
“These are among the key factors we evaluate when selecting recipients,” he said.
He also expressed appreciation to all personnel for their dedication, noting the demanding nature of firefighting duties, especially during major incidents requiring prolonged operations.
“The department hopes this recognition will motivate all personnel to further improve performance, discipline and service delivery to the community,” he added.
Also present were Bomba Sarawak director Jamri Masran and deputy director Tiong Ling Hii.
