99 motorcycles seized in Kuching

KUCHING, Sept. 13: A total of 208 individuals were examined while 99 motorcycles were seized during Operation Roadblock on Tun Salahuddin Street which lasted from Saturday night to early Sunday morning.

The operation from 8.30 pm, 12 September to 6 am, 13 September 2026 involves the Investigation and Traffic Enforcement Division of Kuching Regional Police Headquarters (IPD), the Investigation and Traffic Enforcement Department of the Sarawak Container Police Headquarters (IPK) as well as the Crime Prevention and Community Security Division of IPD Kuching.

Kuching District Police Chief, ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said the operation involved four senior police officers along with 34 members and was aimed at curbing street congestion activity as well as ensuring road users comply with traffic laws.

"As a result of the operation, a 17-year-old local man was arrested", he said.

According to him, the police also inspected 187 vehicles and issued 222 PDRM (K) 257 suits for various traffic offences.

"A total of 99 motorcycles were also seized under Section 60 of the Road Transport Act 1987", he said.

He stressed that such operations will be continued from time to time and reminded road users to comply with the law, not engage in traffic jams activities and avoid vehicle modifications that violate the rules.
