KUCHING, Sept. 12: A three-story store building on Tun Ahmad Zaidi Adruce Road burned down here today, with the first floor completely destroyed while the second floor burned about 80 percent.

According to the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Sarawak, it received a call about the incident at 3.42 am before the team from Batu Lintang Fire and Rescue Police (BBP) arrived on site at 3.45 am.

"The fire involved a building of about 40 by 80 square feet, but the lower level was not damaged.

"A total of four individuals including three women in their 20s and a 63-year-old man were at the scene and all are safe", according to the statement.

The blackout operation was conducted offensively and defensively using two 300-foot watercourses as well as two nozzles from the Batu Lintang BBP machine.

BBP Tabuan Jaya also helps to supply water using water tanks through the pump system in return due to low pressure of pump water.

The operation was successfully controlled at 5:18 a.m. and fully shut down at 2:54 p.m. after the fire department secured the location safe and no further cause of fire hazard.

A total of 25 members along with three FRT machines, an EMRS and a water tank were involved in the operation which was also assisted by Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) and Sesco Berhad Company (SESCO).
