KUCHING (Dec 9): Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg will be delivering a plenary keynote speech titled ‘Water: A Driver for Sarawak’s Resilient and Sustainable Future’ today at Water and Development Congress and Exhibition (WDCE) 2025 at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre in Bangkok, Thailand.
The WDEC 2025 is a global event concentrating on water and development issues in low and middle income countries, and aims to connect experts, utilities, and researchers to share knowledge, foster collaboration, and showcase solutions for water and sanitation challenges.
Themed ‘Water, Sanitation and Innovation—Pathways to Progress and a Resilient Future’, the 2025 edition will present solutions encompassing water and sanitation services, the role of water in urban areas, the link between cities and basins, and opportunities for achieving climate resilience.
It will keynote addresses from leading sector figures who will share their experiences in shaping and delivering solutions, as well as for water professionals to share their latest findings and insights.
Abang Johari arrived safely at the Don Mueang International Airport in Bangkok at 12.29pm local time yesterday, according to a Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) report.
He was accompanied by Minister of Utility and Telecommunications Dato Sri Julaihi Narawi and Sarawak State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki.
Welcoming them at the Don Mueang International Airport were Minister of Political Affairs from the Malaysian Embassy in Bangkok Ahmad Hashim Mahmood and Ministry of Utility and Telecommunications permanent secretary Datu Jafri Lias.
Upon Abang Johari’s arrival at his hotel, he was greeted by Malaysian Ambassador to Thailand Datuk Wan Zaidi Wan Abdullah and Sarawak Deputy State Secretary (Operations) Datu Hii Chang Kee.
According to Ukas, the premier will continue his working visit to China from Dec 10 to Dec 13.
