KUCHING, Sept 15: Kuching City FC (KCFC) continues its usual preparations ahead of the meeting against Phnom Penh Crown FC in AFC Champions League Two (ACL Two) at Morodok Techo National Stadium on Thursday.
KCFC head coach Aidil Sharin Sahak said the team's current focus is on ensuring that players have a sufficient recovery period after playing in their last match against Melaka in Super League competition.
According to him, the recovery period is important since players must be physically and mentally prepared to face another competitive match in a short time.
"Preparation as usual. The player is still in the process of recovery after his last match against Melaka in Super League competition.
"We will continue to monitor the player's condition before the game and see who is really ready to be dropped", he said when met today.
Regarding the player's injury, Aidil Sharin confirmed that Jimmy Raymond has not yet been dismissed for a match against Phnom Penh Crown.
"Jimmy Raymond is still unable to play due to injury, while Ahmad Israiwah is still in recovery", he said.
Ahmad Israiwah's condition will continue to be monitored by the team's training and medical staff before a final decision is made regarding his involvement in the action.
The match against Phnom Penh Crown was a key move for KCFC in the ACL Two campaign, thus opening up an opportunity for the Cats squad to bring Sarawak's name to the Asian football scene.
Aidil Sharin is expected to put at risk the best lineup of players in optimal fitness level to ensure KCFC can start the ACL Two campaign with positive results.
