SIBU: Members of the public are urged to adopt an active lifestyle as an early step towards reducing the risk of diabetes through the ‘Run Against Diabetes: Early Action on Diabetes’ fun run, which will be held at Permai Lake Garden on Nov 14.

The programme, organised by the Jalan Oya Health Clinic in collaboration with the Jalan Oya Health Clinic Advisory Panel, aims to raise public awareness of the importance of diabetes prevention and early action.

According to a spokesperson for the organisers, the 4.5-km run is open to the public and will begin at 6am with participant registration and an aerobics session, followed by the opening ceremony and the start of the run at 7.15am.

He added that the programme also adopts a more relaxed and inclusive approach to delivering health messages to the community, with various activities lined up throughout the event.

“These include stalls and exhibitions, colouring competitions, health quizzes and lucky draws.

“With a participation fee of RM35 per person, each participant will receive an event shirt, finisher’s medal, snacks and a bib number,” he said in a statement today.

Registration is now open and will close on Oct 10.

Interested members of the public can register by scanning the QR code provided on the official event poster.
