BAU (Oct 23): Deputy Minister for Transport (River and Sea) Sarawak Datuk Henry Harry Jinep hopes that the booth operators of this year’s Tasik Biru Festival would be offered lower rental rates due to the change in venue.

According to the Tasik Biru assemblyman, this year the festival will be held at Lobuh Bau, instead of the usual Tasik Biru Waterfront.

“Lobuh Bau may not offer the same space and scenic appeal as Tasik Biru Waterfront, so I hope the booth operators would be given more affordable rental rates,” he said at a press conference to announce the Tasik Biru Festival 2024 at the district office here yesterday.

It is informed that the annual festival, to be running from this Oct 25 to 27, has to be relocated as the usual site at Tasik Biru is still not ready for use.

On this, Henry said despite the change in venue, the festival would still host a variety of activities throughout the three days.

“Batu Kitang assemblyman Datuk Lo Khere Chiang is set to officially launch this festival on the first night at the main stage, while the second day will feature the highly-anticipated Miss Tasik Biru pageant.

“The traditional Jong (Miniature Boat) Regatta will also take place on the second day, with the grand finale of the Miss Tasik Biru pageant to be staged on the final day,” he said.

With over 10,000 visitors expected over the three days, Henry said the festival could generate significant business opportunities for vendors, with estimated potential earnings between RM200,000 and RM300,000.
