KUCHING: Malaysian Institute of Architects Sarawak Chapter will stage a design festival on Nov 17-18 at the Kuching South City Council (MBKS) Community Hall.
“There will be a trade expo where local companies will be promoting their products and services while local colleges and universities will showcase programmes related to the built environment,” it said in a press statement Monday.
“The trade expo is open to the public free of charge, and those who are interested know more about construction building materials and how to enrol in courses related to the built environment are welcome to visit the trade expo,” it added.
The launching of Cloud Pavilion will be done by Mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng on Friday.
“The Cloud Pavilion is an urban installation/sculpture built by craftsmen from the Borneo Highlands, and will be the backdrop for activities by the Sarawak Creative Arts and Culture Association (SCACA) which includes an arts and craft market, colouring contest for children and a photography competition.
“The aim is to bring local skills and traditions to the forefront of society so that there is a better chance of preserving them,” it added.
Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian will launch the festival on Saturday (Nov 18).
