Army chief pays inaugural courtesy call on Premier

KUCHING (March 30): Malaysian Army chief General Dato Azhan Md Othman paid a courtesy call on Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg at the Satria Pertiwi Complex here on Monday.

According to a Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) report, the visit marked Azhan’s first meeting with the premier following his appointment on Jan 1 this year.

Also present were Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, Sarawak Security and Enforcement Unit (UPKS) director Abdul Wahab Rahim, Eastern Field commander Lieutenant General Dato Mohd Sofi Md Lepi and First Infantry Division commander Major General Dato Khairul Anuar Abd Aziz.

Meanwhile, Abang Johari also received a courtesy call from Universiti Teknologi Sarawak (UTS) outgoing vice chancellor Prof Emeritus Datuk Dr Khairuddin Ab Hamid, whose tenure ends this month.

Also present during this courtesy call were Abang Johari’s daughter Dayang Norjihan and Khairuddin’s wife Datin Dayang Mariani Abang Zain.
