KUCHING (Oct 23): Angkatan Zaman Mansang (Azam) Sarawak reinforced its commitment to youth empowerment and community development at this year’s Sarawak Urban Forum (SUF), held at Hikmah Exchange here.

The organisation was honoured to deliver the keynote address, further solidifying its role as a driving force in youth development and innovation in the region.

Azam, in a press release, said the keynote, presented by its strategic communication manager Hassnal Hakim Junaidi on behalf of its chief executive officer, focused on the contributions of Azam Young Souls (AYS) initiative.

“It emphasised the importance of reviving volunteerism, which has seen a decline, and showcased new strategies implemented by Azam to attract more AYS members in the future.

“The speech also highlighted Azam’s ‘Movement for Progress’ initiative, which promotes inclusive growth, and its ability to adopt the values of volunteerism in response to globalisation, empowering youth with essential skills in leadership, social entrepreneurship and urban development.

“This demonstrates Azam’s dedication to nurturing the potential of Sarawak’s younger generation through its commitment to empowering communities through participatory communication,” it said.

In his remarks, Hassnal said: “AYS has become a platform where Sarawakian youths are not only participants but also leaders and agents of change, contributing actively to the region’s growth.

“SUF 2024 provided a critical platform for discussions on sustainable urbanisation, with Azam’s active involvement reflecting its crucial role in shaping both urban and rural development in Sarawak.

“By engaging youths in these key conversations, Azam ensures that their voices and ideas are integrated into the broader narrative of the state’s development.”
