KUCHING, Dec 10: Balai Ringin is set for a major transformation with plans for a new township and upgraded public facilities.

Serian District Council (SDC) chairman Dato Peter Minos in a statement today revealed that the new township will be complemented by improvements to existing amenities, with SDC preparing to enhance the current market in Balai Ringin as well as other public utilities to better serve the community.

“On the way to Sri Aman from Serian, Balai Ringin bazaar is well noted for a resting place, as well as its fresh water fish, lobsters, and vegetables,” he said.

Minos added that the cultural identity of the local Iban community will be incorporated into the design and concept of the new township to preserve and highlight local heritage.

He said residents are welcoming the news with enthusiasm as they see the project as a significant and positive development.

Minos said the development follows strong and consistent lobbying efforts by Balai Ringin assemblyman Datuk Snowdan Lawan, who has been working to bring long-term growth to the area.  — DayakDaily
