KUCHING (March 24): The Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) Ba Kelalan Division has elected assemblyman Baru Bian as its new chairman during its triennial general meeting (TGM).

According to a post on the Ba Kelalan People’s Service Centre (Lawas Official) Facebook page, the TGM was held at Hotel Sri Malaysia in Lawas on March 18.

“The meeting, which proceeded smoothly, was marked by a strong sense of unity among members, reflecting the division’s commitment to strengthening the party and advancing development in Ba Kelalan.

“Delegates expressed confidence that the new leadership line-up, led by Baru, would continue to champion the needs and aspirations of the local community, particularly in driving socio-economic progress in the rural highland constituency,” it said.

In his acceptance speech, Baru, who is also PDP Vice President, said he would bring his experience and leadership to ensure that Ba Kelalan’s voice remains well represented.
