KUCHING, July 1: Batang Lupar Bridge 1 will be closed to all traffic from 5.50am to 8.30am on Sunday, July 12, to facilitate the inaugural Batang Lupar Bridge 1 Half Marathon 2026.

In a Facebook post today, the Sarawak Public Works Department (JKR Sarawak) said the temporary closure is necessary to ensure the safety of participants and road users during the event.

The half marathon will feature three categories: the 21km race, which begins at 4.30am, followed by the 10km race at 6am and the 5km Fun Run at 6.20am.

JKR Sarawak advised motorists to plan their journeys in advance and avoid using the bridge during the closure period. — DayakDaily
