SIBU (Sept 23): Batik Air is set to launch daily flights between Bintulu and Kuala Lumpur starting Nov 1, said Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture Dato Sri Tiong King Sing.

He pointed out that travel connectivity will be further enhanced with the daily flights between these two destinations.

“This will provide more flight options for business travellers and frequent travellers, offer greater convenience for tourists, and boost economic activities between the two regions.

“Batik Air Chief executive officer Datuk Chandran Rama Muthy has also announced that this route has been approved by the Malaysia Civil Aviation Authority, with flight tickets are now on sale,” the Bintulu MP said in a post on Facebook.

According to Tion, a meeting was made between his ministry and Batik Air’s management on July 30 this year to discuss on increasing flight frequency to Bintulu, as well as on the possibilities of having new flight routes such as Johor Bahru-Bintulu and Kuala Lumpur-Bintulu.

“We are committed to improving and continuously enhancing connectivity, aiming to better promote Sarawak’s tourism industry.

“Most importantly, we sincerely thank the airline for its cooperation and support in making this route a reality,” he said.
