KUCHING: The Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) marked its 11th Annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony by hosting 62 children from the Salvation Army Kuching Children’s Home on Thursday (Dec 14).

BCCK CEO Eric van Piggelen expressed his enthusiasm, stating that celebrating Christmas with the children added a meaningful touch to the festivities.

He also emphasised the importance of compassion and giving during the holiday season.

“In the spirit of the season, BCCK is honoured to host this Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony in collaboration with the Salvation Army. It is our hope that this event will bring warmth, joy, and a sense of community to those who need it most.

“On behalf of the Board of Directors, Management, and Staff of BCCK, I would like to wish everyone here tonight success in whatever they do, be it in their studies or work, and may the coming year be a fruitful one.”

Captain Cathy from the Salvation Army shared the children’s joy during the event, expressing their happiness for BCCK allowing them to enjoy this joyous Christmas celebration, from the Christmas tree decoration competition to singing carols and receiving gifts.

The evening began with various activities for the children, including a Christmas Tree Decoration Competition, followed by the lighting of the Christmas tree to mark the beginning of the festive holiday season.

As a gesture of goodwill, each child received a special Christmas present from BCCK before indulging in the Christmas buffet specially prepared by The Raintree Restaurant.
