ULU RAJANG: Hope Place Kuching recently embarked on its biggest convoy to Ulu Rajang in conjunction with its 10th anniversary of Charity Without Borders (CWB).

In its press release, Hope Place convoy started in Bintulu town with an opening ceremony officiated by Deputy Minister of Digital Datuk Wilson Ugak Kumbong and president of Hope Place Chong Hai Eng on Dec 15.

“It was joined by medical professionals including doctors, nurses and medical assistants as well as Assistant Director of the State Health Department (JKNS) Dr. Azlee Ayub. The medical team conducted general health screening and dentistry.

“The Belaga Fire Brigade and representatives of Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB) conducted fire and electrical safety demonstrations for all the villagers.”

Hope Place added that it took the team two whole days to reach the longhouses and the convoy came back to Bintulu earlier this week.

Some of the programmes held throughout the CWB’s 10th anniversary.

“Apart from health screening and safety briefing, the convoy also contributed food to the villagers, provided hair grooming services and conducted a children’s programme

“The food contributions, which included 500 packets of rice, amounted to RM75,000,” it added.

Hope Place said CWB had reached a significant milestone, since 2013.

“Together, we have brought our love, care and hope to 38 interior longhouses all over Sarawak.

“Hope Place has grown not only in helping the needy but also empowering public volunteers and our recipients.

“We have developed and raised a young and vibrant team which is constantly expanding its boundaries to help more people.

“It’s not just about breaking the geographical boundaries. To us, there are no cultural boundaries, no socio-economic boundaries and no age boundaries,” it said.

Together with Hope Place, joining this year’s charity expedition were Kelab Cabaran Pacuan 4 Roda Bintulu, Chamo 4×4 Club Bintulu, Musang Winch 4×4 Bintulu, and Belaga 4×4 Club.
Thr 4×4 convoy members also came from Sabah, Malaysia Brunei and the Philippines. Three volunteers from Hope Place were also there to help out in the activities.
