BINTULU, Sept 22: Bintulu Port Holdings Berhad (BPHB) has contributed RM802.3 million in dividends to the State Financial Secretary Sarawak and Equisar Assets Sdn Bhd, reflecting the company’s strong operational performance and role in supporting Sarawak’s economic growth.
According to a report from the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS), Sarawak Secretary and BPHB chairman Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki said the company’s operational strength had continued to translate into strong financial returns while supporting trade activities in the State.
He said Biport Bulkers continues to handle four million tonnes of cargo annually, accounting for about 25 per cent of Sarawak’s total exports.
“Operationally, we launched the Regional Halal Hub last July in collaboration with the Sarawak Halal Industry Development Council, opening up new avenues for trade diversification.
“This operational strength has translated into strong financial returns, particularly through a dividend contribution of RM802.3 million to the State Financial Secretary Sarawak and Equisar Assets Sdn Bhd,” he said in his speech during the BPHB Appreciation Ceremony in Bintulu last night (Sept 21).
Abu Bakar said BPHB is also targeting an expansion of its cargo-handling capacity while strengthening sustainable port initiatives to grow its operations further.
He stressed that support from employees, management, business partners and other stakeholders would be important in realising new opportunities and achieving the vision of making Bintulu Port a major port by 2030.
He also called on all parties to support BPHB’s new chief executive officer and work together to strengthen Bintulu Port’s role in supporting Sarawak’s economic growth. — DayakDaily
