Brother Johari emphasized the youth leadership, preparation of UN coatings

MIRI, 13 Sept: President of the United Party of Pesaka Bumiputera (PBB), Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg stressed the importance of empowering youth leadership as preparation to ensure continuity of struggle of the United Party of Pesaka Bumiputera (PBB) and development of Sarawak.

He said the process of leadership transition is normal in an organisation and new generations need to be given space and training to take on leadership responsibilities.

"This may be my last stop. I'm young, but I'll make a decision when it's time.

"But the struggle is still going on", he said, speaking at the Inauguration of the UN Special Convention Sarawak North Zone at the Miri Indoor Stadium, here today.

He said the UN should continue to train young leaders, including laying out a lineup for the upcoming elections.

"We must train the young. In the election we must have new people.

"The old was replaced by the young. It's natural", he said.

Brother Johari also stressed that the new generation of leaders must have leadership skills in addition to understanding the diversity of Sarawak's diverse ethnic and religious community.

He said, continuity of leadership is essential to ensure that the struggle for Sarawak's development continues on the basis of unity and spirit of inclusiveness. - TVS
