KUCHING (Feb 28): The spirit of giving and sharing during Ramadan was on full display at the Petronas station in Bintawa Ulu, where bubur lambuk and motorcycle helmets were distributed to the public.

A total of 100 helmets and 1,000 containers of bubur lambuk were handed out during the event.

Minister of Women, Family and Community Development Dato’ Sri Nancy Shukri, who is also Santubong MP, said the programme reflected the true meaning of Ramadan through collective efforts to support the community.

“Today’s event involves the distribution of helmets contributed by Petronas in Sarawak. This is an opportunity for recipients to obtain a helmet which, insyaAllah, is safe and meets the necessary safety features.

“We are giving priority especially to young people who may not be able to afford to purchase one themselves. There are also elderly individuals from villages who sometimes face financial constraints. So this is a meaningful opportunity for them.

“Alhamdulillah, when Petronas comes forward with such contributions during the fasting month, it is something special.

“We welcome this initiative and hope we can continue similar programmes in other areas,” she told reporters after officiating the event.

The programme was jointly organised by Petronas Sarawak and the P193 Santubong Parliamentary Service Centre, with support from several foundations and organisations.

In addition to promoting road safety through helmet distribution, Petronas Sarawak also contributed 150 food baskets to ease the burden of households ahead of the upcoming festive season during the Program Ramadan Prihatin held earlier at Masjid Darul Hana, located at the Marine Police Force Headquarters Region Five in Bintawa.

The initiative benefited 50 Marine Police personnel tasked with safeguarding national security, as well as 77 asnaf recipients in Pantai Damai.
