BINTULU (Oct 21): The Madani government’s Budget 2025 demonstrates its commitment to restoring and strengthening the nation’s economy while prioritising the well-being of its citizens, with a particular focus on education, said Prof Dr Shahrul Razid Sarbini.

The Universiti Putra Malaysia Bintulu campus (UPMKB) director highlighted that the overall budget for the Ministry of Higher Education in 2025 has been increased to RM18 billion from RM16.3 billion previously.

“The government’s focus for the Ministry of Higher Education in the 2025 Budget is to ensure wider access to quality education, enhance infrastructure and facilities, and promote research and innovation that contribute to national development.

“This initiative aims to create a more competitive higher education system that is relevant to future needs,” he said when asked about the Budget 2025 from an educational perspective.

Shahrul also noted that the budget addresses the welfare of civil servants, with salary hikes and incentives to match the rising cost of living.

“These measures reflect the Malaysian government’s commitment to enhancing the quality of life, productivity, and well-being of civil servants. Such support is anticipated to motivate continued excellent service,” he added.
