LAWAS, 8 Oct: Sarawak hopes that larger allocations can be made available through Budget 2027 to allow more schools in the state to be upgraded and restored.

Deputy Prime Minister of Sarawak, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said that aspects of education management and planning should also be taken into consideration, including ensuring that Sarawak is directly involved in education planning and management.

He said the move is important to ensure that Sarawak's educational needs continue to be addressed, including allowing the use of English in teaching Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) subjects.

"The need for greater allocations is very important as Sarawak is the largest state in addition to having its own educational needs. The administration has to be aligned with the needs of Sarawak because we are the largest state.

"The need in terms of positions for promotion should also be focused, not just to meet the required teaching capacity", he said as he met the media after making a work visit to the new building site of National School (SK) Belipat here today.

During the visit, he also approved allocations through the Sarawak Northern Development Agency (NRDA) to repair the school's dining hall and main hall.

He then reviewed the condition of the classroom and spent friendly time with educators from Belipat National School.
