BINTULU: The vibrant city of Bintulu is set to host the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture’s (MOTAC) latest initiative, MOTAC @ Bintulu, from December 29 to 31.

To be held in the Lapang Lasar Kenyalang (Old Airport Site), the programme operates daily from 10 am to 10.30 pm.

According to MOTAC’s statement, the event’s objective is fostering local economic growth and celebrating Malaysian cultural heritage.

Participants will have the opportunity to generate income by selling handicrafts and showcasing their artistic talents.

“This programme is not just an event; it’s a platform for our community to thrive through commerce and culture,” the statement said.

A highlight of the cultural offering is the ‘Kraf Borneo Kita’ festival. Running until January 7, the festival features 75 local craft entrepreneurs from Sarawak, Sabah, and Peninsular Malaysia.

“This festival embodies the ‘Ini Budaya Malaysia’ concept, showcasing the diverse beauty of Malaysian art and culture,” it added.

Visitors can explore over 100 food and drink stalls, along with enjoying a variety of stage performances.

The event culminates with its opening ceremony, slated for December 31 at 8 pm. The ceremony, which will include a New Year countdown, will be officiated by MOTAC Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing.
