Chimang seals 40-second KO

KUCHING: Chimang Kenyalang needed just 40 seconds to stop Terengganu’s Wan Adam with a knee to the liver in the opening round of their ONE Muay Thai Order KL Fight Super Pro 2026 bout at Titiwangsa Stadium, Kuala Lumpur, on Sunday night (Sept 20).

After a brief exchange, Chimang found an opening and landed a decisive knee to Wan Adam’s liver, sending him to the canvas and bringing the fight to an immediate end.

Chimang’s brother and manager Ennaq Jeremy said the quick finish reflected the fighter’s improved knee accuracy, which had been a key focus during training.

“He improved a bit on his knee accuracy, which is to target the liver or the head.

“The secret would be focusing more on knee and elbow techniques during padwork, bagwork and drills,” he told Sarawak Tribune when contacted.

Jeremy said Chimang’s height had also become an important weapon, prompting the team to develop his style around Muay Khao, with knees and elbows at the heart of his attack.

“Since Chimang is tall, he got the advantage for his knee and therefore we set his style to Muay Khao, which is a knee and elbow dominant fighting style.

“That is Chimang’s main strength and weapon in every fight,” he said.

He added that their strength and conditioning sessions had helped sharpen Chimang’s stamina, explosiveness, power and strength, while Wan Adam’s aggressive approach ultimately gave the Sarawak fighter the opening he needed.

“He kept pressuring Chimang during the first few exchanges with big punches, which ultimately allowed Chimang to counter and score the KO,” Jeremy said.

The victory marks Chimang’s first professional fight in Malaysia, although it was not his professional debut, and gives him another boost before his next assignment, the IFMA Youth World Championship in Greece in November, where he will represent Malaysia.

Before heading to Greece, Chimang will undergo centralised training with the Malaysian team in Kuching, followed by another phase in Kuala Lumpur before the national squad departs for the championship.
