BINTULU: Sarawakian students pursuing education abroad are urged to return to their homeland with knowledge and expertise to support and lead the state, especially amidst the changing economic landscape in the ASEAN region.
Tanjong Batu assemblyman, Johnny Pang Leong Ming, said this is in line with Sarawak’s efforts to realise the Post COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030. The rapid development in the state, particularly here requires a skilled workforce in various fields.
“Therefore, I take this opportunity to call upon those who plan to pursue higher education abroad to return and contribute to beloved Sarawak in the future, jointly building and advancing our beloved motherland,” he said during his speech at the SMK Bandar Bintulu Academic Excellence Awards Session 2023/2024 held at Dinner World Restaurant today (Jan 18).
He further stated that the younger generation plays a significant role as new leaders who need to gather their energy, resources, ideologies, talents, and insights to ensure that Sarawak can lead and compete with other states or countries.
A total of 149 outstanding students received certificates during the ceremony, which was attended by SMK Bandar Bintulu principal Rubiah Taip.
