KUCHING: The Kuching South City Council (MBKS) is in discussions with Kuching City Parking System (KCPS) to transition from traditional physical parking coupons to digital parking system.
MBKS Mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng stated that the official announcement regarding the adoption of the digital parking system is scheduled for the end of this month, to be made by KCPS.
“We are currently in the midst of discussions with the KCPS regarding the implementation of digital parking systems and payment.
“Therefore, we will let the group go out and make the announcement.
“For now, we need to see the actual direction of how we move forward with using the application. Undoubtedly, we are trying to transition away from conventional paper coupons,” he told reporters at MBKS Building here today (Jan 4).
His response follows a recent Facebook post urging both MBKS and Kuching North City Hall (DBKU) to embrace cashless and digital parking systems.
The Facebook post said other city halls and municipal councils, including those in Miri and Bintulu, have adopted such parking solutions.
