Curtin M’sia inks MoU with Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University for cross-border learning

MIRI (Oct 20): Curtin University Malaysia (Curtin Malaysia) recently inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University, China at the International Conference on Higher Education Learning and Teaching (ICHELT) 2024.

Curtin Malaysia, in a press statement, said this partnership should pave the way for joint initiatives in student exchange, collaboration in pedagogical research and cutting-edge teaching methods, as well as creates new avenues for cross-border learning opportunities.

Curtin Malaysia was represented at the signing event, which took place at Curtin Malaysia Miri Campus, by its acting pro vice-chancellor and chief executive Prof Vincent Lee, while executive dean Prof Dr Zhang Xiao Jun represented Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University.

“The collaboration aligns with Curtin Malaysia’s vision of expanding its global impact and fostering a learning environment that responds to the rapid shifts in education driven by technological advancements and global challenges,” said Lee.

During the event, Curtin Malaysia also unveiled its latest education tool – a Malaysian version of Curtin University’s ‘Balance of the Planet’ challenge module.

The interactive platform challenges students to engage with real-world sustainability issues, encouraging critical thinking and problem-solving in a global context.

Meanwhile, ICHELT 2024 gathered over 150 participants globally, both physically and virtually.

The conference featured 65 paper presentations and special sessions that highlighted the role of artificial intelligence in shaping the future of education.
