KUCHING (Dec 2): The new Native Customary Rights (NCR) Land Survey Initiative conducted from Oct 2010 to Oct 2025 has successfully surveyed approximately 1,223,646 hectares of land in the state by perimeter, said Datuk Len Talif Salleh.
The Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Urban Development noted that from this total, around 947,442 hectares have been gazetted as Bumiputera Communal Reserves (Agricultural) under Section 6 of the Sarawak Land Code.
“This survey work is conducted based on applications submitted by the relevant parties,” he said during his ministerial winding-up speech at the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting here yesterday.
He said the Sarawak government consistently recognises and safeguards the legitimate NCR land rights of its people in accordance with existing land laws.
He added that since 2017, the initiative also focused on individual lots for the issuance of land titles under Section 18 of the Sarawak Land Code for areas that have been gazetted and claimants are prepared.
“As of Oct 31 this year, a total of 107,467 individual lots covering 127,016 hectares have been surveyed, with land titles under Section 18 of the Sarawak Land Code issued or pending issuance.”
On another note, he said that since 2018, Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg has enhanced the Resettlement Scheme (SPS) and Village Expansion Scheme (SPK) by introducing upgraded infrastructure at an average cost of RM150,000 per lot.
“In line with the government’s commitment, the land premium for each lot is capped at RM2,500 with payment options available in annual instalments of up to 10 years,” he said.
He said under the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP) and the Projek Rakyat allocation, as of Oct 31, 2025, 84 SPS and SPK projects have been approved, providing 8,564 residential lots at an estimated implementation cost of RM1.581 billion.
“Of these, 28 projects have been fully completed as per the development scope, while the remaining 54 will continue through the end of the 12MP and into the 13MP. Two projects were opposed locally and could not proceed.
“SPS and SPK will continue to be strengthened under the 13MP to provide housing for the people in line with the inclusive aspirations of the Gabungan Parti Sarawak Government,” he said.
