KUCHING: The Junior category of the P.194 Petra Jaya Golf Challenge Trophy in Kuching has emerged as a significant platform for unearthing future golfing stars in Sarawak.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, while addressing the attendees at the Sarawak Golf Club during the award ceremony of the P.194 Petra Jaya Golf Challenge Trophy 2023 today (Dec 3), praised the abilities of the young golfers.

“Their skills and performance in this tournament are commendable,” he noted, emphasising the government’s plan to increase the number of young golfers for the next tournament and to cultivate more young talents for upcoming events.

The event, in its 13th year, saw 120 players from three Petra Jaya constituencies – N.6 Tupong, N.7 Samariang, and N.8 Satok – competed for the title.

Fadillah, who is also the Petra Jaya MP, highlighted the support of numerous sponsors willing to back these young talents to represent Sarawak in golf.
