Driver killed after van crashes into roadside tree in Bintulu

BINTULU (Feb 26): A 31-year-old man was killed after the van he was driving crashed into a roadside tree along Jalan Tanjung Kidurong on Thursday.

In a statement, the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) identified the victim as Wilson Lun Andrew.

Bomba said they were notified about the incident at 10.25am and firefighters from Bintulu fire station were dispatched to the scene.

“The male driver was found trapped in the driver’s seat. Firefighters immediately carried out extrication works using special rescue equipment.

“The victim was successfully extricated from the vehicle but was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel,” the department said.

The victim’s body was later handed over to the police for further action.
