KUCHING, 15 Oct: A total of 254 Outdoor Transformation Program (RTP) projects were recorded in Machan State Legislative Assembly (DUN) area for the period 2021 to 2026 involving construction and improvement of community roads as well as long-term housing infrastructure.
Machan Member of the National Assembly (ADUN), Allan Siden Gramong said that the implementation of the project also includes restoration work on pedestrian and long-distance houses as well as provision of various public facilities to meet the needs of local people.
He hoped that the RTP programme could be continued and strengthened in future, as well as the project implementation process accelerated especially in terms of technical approvals, tendering processes and completion of projects.
"I hope that the RTP programme can be continued and strengthened in future.
"At the same time, I would like to request that RTP project implementation process can be accelerated, especially in terms of technical approvals, tender process and completion of project", he said.
He said this while discussing Sarawak Budget 2027 at the 19th Sarawak State Legislative Assembly (DUN) Conference today.
Meanwhile, Allan stressed the importance of continuing road development in Ulu Poi, Ulu Machan and Menuan areas to improve access for long-term residents especially those still facing land connectivity constraints.
According to him, the Phase 3 road project connecting Keleman House, Nyaru House and Jelani House is scheduled for completion in 2027.
"This project is a very exciting development for Ulu Poi residents who have been waiting for long-term road facilities", he explained.
He also hoped that the road project from Nanga Jerangku to Ulu Machan National School (SK) could be expanded to connect long houses which still do not have access to roads including proposed route from SK Ulu Machan to Lajang House.
In addition, he requested that the balk road which is still used as a daily route by residents of Machan, Poi and Menuan areas be considered for inclusion in the maintenance or classification programme.
He said that the continuous development of road infrastructure is essential to facilitate the movement of people, improve access to basic facilities and improve quality of life in rural communities.
