A woman found in a cage caught in a fire at Kim Pang Park

KUCHING, Oct 11: A 35-year-old woman was found in a house fire on Kim Pang Park Street here this evening.

According to the Centre for Operational Movements (PGO) of the Malaysian Department of Bombs and Rescuers (JBPM) Sarawak, it received an emergency call regarding the incident at 3.57 pm before machinery from Petra Jaya Bombs and Rescue Hall (BBP) and Batu Lintang BBP were moved to the location.

According to him, firefighters arrived at 4:15 p.m. and found the fire involving a half-story semi-detached house of about 40 by 30 square feet that burned completely.

"The house was occupied by six people, an adult woman believed to have been trapped inside the house when the fire broke out.

"The victim's body was turned over to the police for further action", the statement said.

The extinguishing operation also involves the use of two water shower streams and one auxiliary channel stream before inspection and overhaul work is carried out to ensure that the fire is completely extinguished.

The operation involves a total of 17 members with the strength of two Fire Rescue Tender (FRT) machines and one Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) machine, with the help of police as well as the Malaysian Ministry of Health (KKM).

The operation was fully terminated at 6:09 p.m.
