Nanta announces RM200,000 for Rumah Naga longhouse repairs

KAPIT: Works Minister, Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi has announced an allocation of RM200,000 to repair the kitchen roof of Rumah Naga longhouse in Nanga Merating here under the Kapit Parliamentary Constituency’s ‘Projek Mesra Rakyat’ (PMR) programme. 

Nanta, who is also Kapit Member of Parliament (MP), said the allocation was part of ongoing efforts to improve the comfort and well-being of rural communities.

He also officiated the opening of a newly built jetty worth RM210,000 at Sungai Bena, Sut, providing residents with safer and more comfortable river transport facilities.

“Development is not merely about providing physical infrastructure, but also ensuring that the well-being and needs of every rural community receive continued attention,” he said in a Facebook post today following his visit to Rumah Naga.

The visit was in conjunction with the ‘Gerakan Massa Masyarakat Desa’ (GEMA) programme organised by the Community Development Department (KEMAS), held on October 10 and 11.

Nanta said cooperation between MPs, state assemblymen and political secretaries was important to coordinate development efforts and ensure that all segments of society benefited.

He also encouraged residents to submit written applications for assistance or proposals for development projects to his office for consideration. – BERNAMA
