“Preliminary investigations found that the accident occurred at about 10.57am when the Toyota Hilux, travelling straight along the left lane towards Betong, was unable to avoid colliding with the Perodua Bezza, which suddenly emerged from the P-turn junction.

“As a result of the collision, all three individuals involved sustained injuries before being taken by ambulance to Saratok Hospital for treatment,” he said in a TVS news report.

The deceased was identified as Bohari Derahman, who was a front-seat passenger in the Perodua Bezza. He was pronounced dead at Saratok Hospital after sustaining severe head injuries.

The other two victims, the 60-year-old Toyota Hilux driver and the 77-year-old Perodua Bezza driver, sustained injuries to the head and legs, and the head and body, respectively. Both were rushed to Saratok Hospital for treatment.

He also said preliminary investigations indicated that the accident was believed to have been caused by the Perodua Bezza driver, who emerged from the P-turn junction without first giving way to oncoming traffic travelling straight.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. — DayakDaily
