Police confirm a woman found wrapped up in a house fire in Batu Kawa

KUCHING, Oct 11: Police confirm a 35-year-old woman was found in a house fire on Kim Pang Street, Batu Kawa, here this evening.

Padawan Regional Police Chief, Superintendent Barry William said the victim was found by a suicide bomber in the dining area of the home lying down.

"The victim known as Boon Yit Sia is on the Moyan River, Batu Kawa. At the time of the incident, the victim was believed to be alone at home, while his boyfriend went out for coffee in Malihah.

"The victim was reported to have health problems that limited her mobility and required the help of her boyfriend to manage daily needs", she said in a statement today.

He said police received information about the incident at 3:54 p.m. before members of the police, firefighters and ambulances were dispatched to the scene to provide assistance.

"Operation of extinguishing involved members from the bombing and rescue halls of Batu Lintang and Batu Kawa, victims' bodies were handed over to police for further action, while the death was opened for investigation", he said.
