Member of the Krian State Legislative Assembly (ADUN), Dato Friday Belik said that the aid is aimed at helping low-income people to repair their homes in order to ensure safety and comfort of residents.

"The Sarawak Poor Housing Improvement Project is also one of the initiatives of the Government GPS to help those with disabilities to repair their homes.

"Sarawak is the only state in Malaysia that has a special agency set up to look after the interests and needs of other religions", he added.

He said the state government also channelled RM4.34 million through the Sarawak State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) to fire victims involving one individual and three long houses over the past three years.
