KUCHING, 12 Oct: Sarawak recorded revenue of RM10.732 billion as of September 2026, equivalent to 82 percent of the state's revenue target for this year.
Sarawak Premier, Datuk Seri Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, said the quote was driven by three main contributors: State Sales Tax (SST), cash compensation in exchange for oil and gas rights and dividend income.
He said SST contributed RM3.941 billion, followed by cash compensation in exchange for oil and gas rights of RM2.334 billion, while dividend income recorded RM2.147 billion.
"I am delighted to report that as of September 2026, our revenue quotes amounted to RM10.732 billion, equivalent to 82 percent of the projected revenue targets for this year", he said.
He presented the development when presenting Sarawak Budget 2027 at the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly (DUN) Conference, today.
Brother Johari said based on current trends, Sarawak's total revenue for 2026 is now projected to increase to RM13.571 billion, which is RM552 million or four percent higher than the original estimate of RM13.049 billion.
The increase in forecasts was driven by the Federal Government's increased Special Grants, from RM600 million to RM1.5 billion this year.
In related developments, state management spending for 2026 is also reviewed up to RM14.348 billion from the original estimate of RM12.905 billion.
As of September, a total of RM9.434 billion or 66 percent of the management expenditure allocation has been spent.
Meanwhile, development spending recorded RM5.604 billion out of an allocation of RM9.663 billion, equivalent to 58 percent for the same period. - TVS
