KUCHING, 6 Oct: Qariah Sarawak, Nur Syakura Mohamad Musa was the hope for Malaysia at the International Council of Tilawah and Hafazan Al-Quran Ranking Year 1448H/2026M held at the World Trade Center (WTC) in Kuala Lumpur from October 6 to 10.
According to the Sarawak Islamic Council (MIS), Syakura, who serves as Superintendent of Quran Teachers MIS has been training with qari and qariah for several months in preparation.
The MIS announces this prestigious ceremony opens its doors tonight.
"Let's pray together that all matters will be simplified and Nur Syakura sister given strength and serenity in bringing confidence to represent Malaysia on the international stage", according to the statement.
Citing local media, his global appearance ended a nearly 19-year wait for qariah from the state to act on the international stage.
The last time Sarawak achieved such success was through the renowned Qariah figure of Sarawak, Allahyarhamah Amnah Ayup, who had previously recognised Malaysia and Sarawak as Qariah johans of the International Ranking Quranic Examination Council 2007.
A total of 50 participants from 38 countries will take part in the event, consisting of 25 participants for the space category and 25 participants for the Quran hadzazan category.-TVS
