SARATOK, Oct. 6: A 21-year-old man was arrested by police in Saratok on suspicion of involvement in a recent case of treason with fire on Green Road, Kuching.
Saratok District Police Chief, DSP Mathew Manggie said the arrest was made at about 4pm yesterday by a police team from Sarawak's D7 Kontinental Police Headquarters (IPK) along with members of the Regional Criminal Investigation Division (BSJD), Saratok District Police Headquarters (IPD).
"The suspect from Sarikei is believed to be related to a Saratok police report investigated under Section 436 of the Penal Code.
"As a result of the investigation, police also confiscated two mobile phones of the Realme C63 and Redmi 12C brands to assist with the investigation", he said in a statement today.
He said the initial investigation found that the suspect was married and worked as a waitress at a diner in Saratok.
"Suspect is believed to be involved in a treason case with fire that occurred on Green Road, Kuching.
"It was found that the man in question had two previous records, including one case under Section 4A (a) of the Open Gambling Houses Act 1953 which has been convicted and one case under Section 302 of the Penal Code which is still on arrest record", he said.
The case is currently under investigation under Section 436 of the Penal Code.
