KUCHING, March 18: An e-hailing driver was robbed early Monday in Kampung Gita Baru, with police arresting two local men and seized several items in connection to the crime.
Kuching District Police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said the incident occurred at approximately 3.08am on March 16, resulting in an estimated loss of RM2,850.
“Acting on intelligence, Kuching police detained the suspects, aged 51 and 25, both of whom have previous criminal records. Urine tests on the men returned positive for drugs,” he said in a statement yesterday (March 17).
The case is being investigated under Section 395 read with Section 397 of the Penal Code for armed gang robbery, which carries up to 20 years’ imprisonment and whipping if convicted.

“He also tested positive for drugs and has been remanded for three day until March 19 for investigation,” Alexson said.
This case is being investigated under Section 380 of the Penal Code, which carries up to 10 years’ imprisonment and fines, with whipping for repeat offences.
