Early morning crash claims elderly woman’s life at Jalan Morsjaya in Miri

MIRI, July 6: An early morning accident that occurred at Jalan Morsjaya here claimed the life of an elderly woman and injured two men.

In a report from the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), a call was received at 6.52am, and firefighters from the Miri Central station were deployed.

The report noted that the accident involved a Mazda and a Toyota Avanza, with the latter carrying two occupants.

According to the report, the male driver of the Avanza managed to exit the vehicle, while the elderly woman remained trapped in the passenger seat. The male driver of the Mazda managed to exit the vehicle as well.

Bomba then carried out extrication operations to free the elderly woman, who was later pronounced dead at the scene by Health Ministry personnel, while the drivers of both vehicles were sent to the hospital. — DayakDaily
